Learning about Horseshoe Crabs

We had heard great things about Cape Henlopen State Park, so we drove up to Lewes, DE one day to check it out. We started by going to the Nature Center. There was a man outside with a bucket with a Horseshoe Crab in it. The Horseshoe Crab had a hook caught in it, and he was taking it home to perform "surgery" as he put it. Parker was asking him all kinds of questions, and we learned a lot of interesting facts about Horseshoe Crabs. Our time in Maryland has made me realize a few things about Parker: 1) He knows no strangers, everyone is an instant friend, 2) He has a very inquisitive mind, as we like to call it in my family. I think Grandpa may be growing a little tired of hearing the question "Why?" ;) After the Nature Center, we decided to go for a bike ride. They had bikes and even bike trailers that you could just borrow to ride around on the many trails within the Park. We did have to wait a little bit for a bike trailer to come in, but it was well worth the wait. I love the idea of going on family bike rides. One day, when we're no longer living the student life, I plan on owning bikes and a bike trailer and going on bike rides all of the time. :) We biked to one of the observation towers used during World War II. 115 steps,(we counted on the way down ;)) and Parker and Riley climbed each one of them. Riley really liked her helmet, and wanted to keep it on the whole time, even when we got out to climb the observation tower. After the bike ride, we went to the playground and ate lunch.
