Ward Breakfast and Flag Ceremony
What a fun, busy day! Turns out it's pretty tricky to get a 3 mile run in, and a family of 5 ready and festive and be somewhere by 7:30am. Who knew, right?!? ;) Needless to say, we were slightly late to our ward's flag ceremony and breakfast. We drove by as the flag was being raised, so we were able to catch most of the talk given by the bishop and then enjoy a yummy breakfast. Afterwards, we walked over with the Judd's to the Parade. They had set out blankets, chairs and a tent earlier that morning, so we had a pretty good spot. The kids were a little disappointed that no candy was thrown out, but they did walk away with frisbees, balls, fans, and headbands. It was so hot, but ice cream bars, popsicles, and water helped tons! ;) After the parade, we relaxed for most of the afternoon, just playing games. In the evening, we went to the Red Rock Casino Buffet for dinner. The kids were well behaved for the most part at the buffet, but it was still so exhausting! Just the nature of going back and forth and back and forth between appetizers and entrees and dessert for 3 little ones. Who ever thought going to a buffet for a family would be a good idea?? Ha, the food was yummy though, and the kids enjoyed it. It also put us right where we wanted to be to catch a good fireworks show. When we left the restaurant, it was raining and we considered just heading home, but we decided to wait it out. Luckily the rain didn't last very long and we were still able to enjoy fireworks. We found a vacant dirt lot right across from Red Rock Casino. It gave us a pretty good view of some other shows as well. Poor Riley didn't quite make it to see the show; she fell asleep in the van soon after dinner.
