We found out earlier in the week that Cassidy's brother, KC was being deployed to Afghanistan for a year. His company had already deployed, and he hadn't been needed at the time, but was now needed. He was given about a week and a half to get everything in order. Cassidy's mom was getting a family party ready for that Saturday, so we decided to make a weekend of it and head to Utah. No one knew that we were coming besides Cassidy's mom, but no one really seemed that surprised, except for KC and Tiffany. The road in the neighborhood leading up to the house was lined with Flags, and there was a big sign on the house saying, "Heros don't wear capes, they wear dog tags". It was a very touching sight. We are so grateful to KC and his cute wife and boys for their service, and it was so wonderful to get to spend the day with them as well as other family members. It also happened to be our nephew, Treagan's 4th birthday, so we celebrated with him as well and enjoyed some Monsters, Inc. cupcakes and cakes.
Sunday, we drove up to Jamie and Jeff's to go to church with them. Riley had a hard time separating for class, so she decided to go to Sunbeams with cousin Lily. We went back to their house for lunch and a little visiting, and then heading to Clay and Mindi's for dinner and games. Later that night, we headed to Alpine to stay the night at the Gregory's. It was just like old time, staying up late, playing Mario Kart and Settlers, except this time we went downstairs, and they stayed upstairs. ;) The next morning, they fixed a yummy breakfast of crepes with any possible topping, sweet or savory, that you could want. We were joined by a couple of other Nebraska Law families, the Burgins, and the Hamptons. It was so fun to get together and hang out!
We were so glad you were able to sleep over. Just like old times! And in your future house, just make sure the racquetball court sing falling apart ;)
